Hybrid of undetermined Ceanothus species. Grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Prefers sun or part shade in coastal sites, and part shade in inland sites. Selected by Louis Edmonds, from his Danville, CA nursery and introduced in 1958. Believed to be a C. dentatus x C. thyrsiflorus var. thyrsiflorus hybrid.
