Alpine pennycress (Noccaea fendleri), also known as wild candytuft, is a small perennial wildflower in the mustard family (Brassicaceae). Native to the western U.S. and northern Mexico, it typically grows in rocky mountain habitats but also occurs at lower elevations on serpentine soils.

This tidy plant forms a basal rosette of leaves and sends up one or more short, unbranched stems topped with clusters of small flowers in early spring. The petals are usually white, sometimes tinged with pink or lavender. The bright flowers stand out beautifully against rocky terrain.

Alpine pennycress is drought-adapted and can be grown from seed, making it a good fit for rock gardens or serpentine-inspired plantings. Like other native mustards, it supports pollinators and serves as a larval host plant for some butterfly species.
