Egg milkvetch (Astragalus oophorus) is a perennial herb in the pea family that’s native to the western United States, mainly California and Nevada. It grows in places with extreme temperature fluctuations and limited moisture. Egg milkvetch is a compact plant with gray-green, oval leaves growing along a stout stem.

The plant blooms in early summer. It has showy flowers that are cream-colored or reddish-purple with white tips. The fruit is a colorful, inflated, oval pod, resembling a bladder. Two varieties of this plant are also native to California.

Egg milkvetch is not sold commercially but it may support various invertebrates, such as the orange sulphur butterfly and the alfalfa looper moth.
