Quailbush (Atriplex lentiformis ssp. breweri) is a shrub with beautiful gray leaves in the Chenopodiaceae or goosefoot family. It grows primarily along the coast in southern California, with scattered inland locations. Some authorities do not recognize this coastal subspecies as distinct from the parent species or ssp. lentiformis. The difference is in the larger leaves and fruits of ssp. breweri.

Though not a showy plant, it is very tolerant of harsh conditions and great for quick cover, erosion control, and habitat gardens.

It is an excellent wildlife plant, attracting numerous birds, small mammals, and insects. The Wild Bird Center says this shrub attracts more birds than any other plant in their garden.
