The Jepson Flora Project

The Jepson Herbarium at UC Berkeley collaborates closely with Calscape in several ways:

  • Calscape adopts the taxonomy of the Jepson eFlora, the authoritative floristic reference for the state of California
  • The Jepson eFlora provides distributional information that Calscape uses to model potential plant ranges
  • Horticultural information for native plants that was published in the 1993 Jepson Manual, was shared with Calscape for inclusion in its database

We are also grateful for their support in sharing herbarium specimen data from the Consortium of California Herbaria and photos from the CalPhotos database with Calscape.

Calscape creators and contributors

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes Calscape possible. We extend our special gratitude to Dennis Mudd-the original Calscape creator, and the numerous volunteers who have contributed significantly to the development of our horticulture database.

and the Calscape committee

The Calscape Commitee is comprised of Calscape users, landscape and nursery professionals, technology experts, and other native plant experts. The committee was instrumental in the launch of the new Calscape and will focus on new features, data updates, and other improvements going forward. If you'd like to be considered for the committee, please email the Calscape team.
