Grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade or shade in inland sites. Selected in 197 by Walter Lammerts; introduced in 1974 by Ken Taylor. parentage unknown but many characteristics of C. cyaneus.
