Woolly-headed gilia (Gilia capitata ssp. tomentosa) is an annual herb in the Polemoniaceae or phlox family that is endemic to California. This subspecies of Gilia capitata, otherwise known as bluehead gilia and blue field gilia, grows on sea bluffs and serpentine outcrops;
Flowering from May to July, woolly-headed gilia may be grown from seed. In the garden it is best used in a meadow-like setting with other annual wildflowers.
This plant is known to support bees.
