Clumping perennial that can take full sun at coast but prefers cool sun/light shade inland. Once established, needs little supplemental water inland in dry months and no water on the coast, unless it's been a dry winter. It can be transplanted or divided, which is best done in December. Tolerates a wide variety of soils. Soil drainage can be fast, medium, or slow. Great on slopes. Groundcover. Cold tolerant to 15 degrees F.
