Founded by three local native plant enthusiasts in 2021, Hardy Californians quickly became recognized as a leading, influential force in sustainable landscape design and garden practices. Based in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, we operate a seasonal native plant nursery in Sierra Madre, just a few blocks from our small studio. It is our mission to facilitate a shift in landscape practices towards native plants as the standard choice for both residential and commercial applications. We strive to achieve this objective by creating beautiful, sustainable native plant gardens that capture rainwater, regenerate soil life, and build healthy habitat for people, pollinators, and wildlife.
