Wildling Design Studio’s design philosophy is grounded in the conviction that we are all a part of nature, that to design and plan with nature and natural processes creates more resilient and enriched spaces, and keeps us better connected to the land that supports and sustains us. While integrating streams back into developed urban areas is a particular focus, we see opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature through all project types. Wildling approaches sites with a respect for context and existing assets and conditions, be they buildings, mature trees, or other beloved elements, and proposes enhancements to the environmental quality and function of landscapes while meeting the social, cultural, recreational and aesthetic program desired. We embrace principles of community-based design, combining participatory, people-centered processes with information that empowers group decision making and consensus. Wildling also recommends an inclusive approach to the design process, including targeted outreach to vulnerable and under-served communities. We have projects past and present that span the state from Del Norte to Orange County, with project locations on the coast as well as inland areas such as Riverside and San Bernadino Counties.
