Escondido Nursery was established in 1999 by Javier Villalpando while working closely with Hedgrow Farms since 1992.
Escondido Nursery produces quality California native grass transplants as well as sedge and forb rushes for habitat restoration and re-vegetation throughout northern, central, and southern California. We do contract growing for site specific collections. Ecological restoration is valuable for controlling erosion, invasive species and maintaining ecosystem integrity and biodiversity. Wildlife, including deer, small mammals, snakes, lizards, and over 100 species of birds make use of habitat area.
As a native grass grower, we understand the need to control weeds, maximize water available to crops, and preserve the soil resource. Native planting helps, meet those goals and can be included in other landscapes, such as rangeland, roadside, riparian areas, flood, planes, stormwater, drains, and urban landscaping. We have added many wildflowers important for pollinators and native bees.
